Driven by our love for children and aiming to create a place where many children will get together and be educated, we started our daycare center 20 years ago wishing that it would be filled by your precious little sunflowers. We called it “Hliotopos”. Since that time, we have welcomed hundreds of children into our loving arms and we have educated them with love and respect, helping them to walk through the demanding path of their education, armed with strong foundations, values, self-confidence and proper education, ready to walk on a path of success and knowledge. The teaching staff were selected for their love for children. Our personnel consists of experienced kindergarten teachers and licensed childminders who are highly skilled according to the contemporary pedagogical models and our daycare center’s philosophy and methodology. Our educators provide great work and the children of Hliotopos who surround them remind them every day why they chose to perform this vocation: to undertake the EDUCATION of our children at such a young age. Because children are the future and only if we invest in proper preschool education and give it the importance it deserves, there will be a better future for all of us. Daycare Center Hliotopos, with 25 years of experience through systematic involvement and research in preschool education, has its own “pedagogical identity”. The following doctrine is a milestone and a vital part of this identity: “Children must be taught how to think and not what to think” (Margaret Mead, American cultural anthropologist 1901-1978). We apply the Montessori education method, in which the respect for a child’s personality is the first priority, followed by the freedom that will come out of discipline. Other principles of the Montessori method are: the inner and outer order of a person’s composition, the respect for the human and material environment, the individual effort, as well as teamwork and learning through research, etc. For a child to be happy and healthy, we want them to have social, cognitive, emotional and physical development. Our children are the soul of our daycare center and the top priority of our educators is to trigger students’ emotions in order to help them develop a positive self-image. All these years, our center is a source of energy and joy for these children and in its loving arms they grow, mature, acquire courage, imagination, self-esteem and socialize as the citizens of tomorrow, full of energy, creativity, optimism and wisdom.
